Keller Technology Employee Training

As Keller Technology Corporation (KTC) graduates into its second generation of manufacturing, we are continuing to focus on what’s made it successful: its people. To stay on the cutting edge of employee development, KTC is partnering with the industry’s best training providers, including The LEAD Institute, The Center for Industrial Effectiveness at the University at Buffalo, and INSYTE Consulting Group.

Leadership Skills and The LEAD Institute

In the fourth quarter of 2017, KTC partnered with The LEAD Institute to complete a three-day Leadership Skills and Style Development (LSSD) for 13 of its current and future leaders. The two training teams were strategically chosen from various departments to maximize cross-functional collaboration. The program provided participants with the insight and hands-on skill practice needed for personal improvement in the three focus areas of Creating High Performing Work Climates, Personal Style and Interpersonal Skills, and Leading and Managing others.

Root Cause Analysis and The Center for Industrial Effectiveness

KTC’s first training of 2018 was performed by The Center for Industrial Effectiveness at the University at Buffalo and centered on Root Cause Analysis training for a team of 12 KTC employees. This reoccurring training for KTC educates attendees in the methodology of determining root cause versus symptoms, and focuses on solving an issue so it never occurs again.

Lean Manufacturing and INSYTE Consulting Group

Finally, as KTC continues on its “lean” journey, it tapped the INSYTE Consulting Group to perform LEAN101 refresher training for most of its North Tonawanda employees in March. Participants took part in a refresher on the principles and application of lean principles, focusing heavily on 6S and waste elimination for daily manufacturing operations. The culmination of their efforts was seen through targeted Kaizen events held in conjunction with the training.

Armed with these diverse skillsets, the trainees and KTC leadership are continuing to grow through the further development of its biggest asset—people.
