Keller Technology is excited to announce the arrival of a new DMG Mori five-axis machining center at our Buffalo facility: the DMC 160 MP.
The “MP,” short for Micro Precision, represents DMG Mori’s advanced machine configuration developed for ultra-high accuracy, thermal stability, and long-term repeatability. Built on the proven DMC 160 U duoBLOCK platform, this system delivers best-in-class five-axis machining with exceptional precision, performance, and efficiency.
The DMC 160 MP is engineered with a rigid gantry-style duoBLOCK machine structure, optimized to minimize vibration and deformation during complex, multi-axis machining operations. The machine is equipped with CELOS Heidenhain TNC7 next-generation controls, providing advanced motion control, user-friendly operation, and enhanced process monitoring.
A key differentiator of the MP configuration is DMG Mori’s µPRECISION package, which ensures superior accuracy through patented linear guide adjustment and advanced thermal compensation strategies. These include a spindle growth sensor and an integrated OMP 600 measuring probe, enabling micron-level accuracy and long-term dimensional stability throughout extended machining cycles.
High performance is driven by the powerMASTER spindle, rigid B-axis head design, automated pallet changer, and a 243-tool wheel magazine, supporting both high-mix flexibility and long unattended machining runs. High-resolution linear scales on all axes and temperature-controlled critical components further contribute to exceptional positional accuracy and repeatability.
The system’s five-axis kinematics enable simultaneous contouring of complex geometries while maintaining tight positional and form tolerances. Its large working envelope and high-torque spindle capability allow the DMC 160 MP to accommodate both intricate micro-scale features and larger, highly complex components.
Designed to support precision machining of difficult-to-machine materials, the DMC 160 MP is well suited for specialty alloys, ceramics, and advanced engineered materials commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing, energy research, medical technology, and other demanding applications. The enhanced stability and precision of the MP platform contribute to improved surface finishes, reduced rework, and greater overall process consistency.
Delivered on October 15, 2025, the DMC 160 MP became fully operational after an approximate 1.5-month installation and checkout period, with the first production part, a high precision copper part, run mid-December, 2025
