From Freighter Buffing to Global Supplier of Complex Manufacturing
In 1918, Joseph and Arthur Keller established the Duplex Buffing Machine Company in Buffalo, New York, providing buffing and repair services for freighters navigating the Great Lakes. The business grew into a general machine shop, later renamed J & A Keller Machine Company, Inc. Soon after, it became a build-to-print operation with electromechanical assembly capabilities.
As demand for turnkey solutions increased, the company expanded into full design-and-build services. In the 1980s, Keller Technology emerged as an early adopter of industrial robotics, integrating automation and wafer-handling systems into custom semiconductor fabrication equipment, including diffusion furnaces and vacuum systems. During this period, the company formally became Keller Technology Corporation, reflecting its expanding capabilities and global reach.
Over the following decades, Keller applied its expertise to new verticals, including medical, aerospace, nuclear and research. As semiconductor manufacturing shifted toward more standardized equipment, Keller also grew into a trusted contract manufacturer for equipment suppliers. Today, under fifth-generation leadership, Keller Technology delivers precision fabrication, custom machinery and contract manufacturing for high-demand industries worldwide.
